The American Studies Program is an interdisciplinary program within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. American studies majors, in consultation with an American Studies faculty advisor, devise a program of study comprised of courses in American Studies and relevant courses from other departments. Students may obtain a B.A. or B.G.S. degree with a major in American Studies. Persons interested in majoring in American Studies must meet with an American Studies faculty member before declaring their major.
The courses offered for the semester are listed below, and enrollment information for each course may be found under the appropriate department.
Topic emphasis for individual courses varies depending on the instructor. Each semester the American Studies Program publishes a department course guide that gives specific descriptions for courses offered that semester. The course guide is available in the American Studies office, 213 Bailey, or on-line at www.ku.edu/~amerst.
Notice: The American Studies Department reserves the right to terminate administratively the enrollment of any student who misses the first class meeting.
Information about the major is available on-line at www.ku.edu/~amerst, or from the American Studies office, 213 Bailey, and on pages 75-77 of the Undergraduate Catalog. |
